March 2019 Wrap-Up

At the start of every month, I collect and review some of my favorite articles, podcasts, recipes, products, updates from With Cheryl, and more.

Here are some of my favorites from the month of March:

PODCASTS

Simply Designed Life Podcast Episode 63: Interested in learning more about the importance of putting yourself first, embracing failure, and lots more? This podcast episode is for you. Oh, and it features a guest you might know–ME!!! I had such a wonderful time chatting with Lori and I hope you enjoy the episode.  (25 minutes)

Before Breakfast Podcast with Laura Vanderkam: So, I’m breaking my usual rule of picking a specific episode and recommending an entire show instead because I LOVE THIS SHOW. If you are looking for super quick tips (9 minutes or less) at the start of each day, this is the show for you. If you ever see me walking to work in the morning, you’ll know I’m listening to this show. Seriously, subscribe now and start listening. You won’t regret it.  (9 minutes or less)

Feel Good Effect Podcast Episode Inner Order, Outer Calm & Declutteringfrom in Podcasts Might be one of my favorite articles of all time. Power hours and 10 minute shut down? Check name. Listen to Inner Order, Outer Calm & Decluttering, with Gretchen Rubin from Feel Good Effect in Podcasts. (48 minutes)

ARTICLES

The Best Thing You Can do For Yourself When You’re Stressed: I read this article on a week when I was stressed more than usual and the advice really hit home for me during a month when I was practicing daily self care. My favorite quote from the article was one that I think we all need to be reminded of more often: “it’s during hectic or difficult times when we need to care for ourselves the most.”

PRODUCTS

Whole Foods Beauty: I’m going to break the rules again and recommend an entire section of a store instead of one product. If you follow me on Instagram, you likely know I’m starting to switch to clean beauty products and Whole Foods’ beauty section will now be my go-to spot. Their products are much more affordable than other places I was looking and right now they are having a HUGE sale of 25% off everything, with an additional 10% off until April 2nd. Some of the products I purchased and love so far are:

Acure Rose Argan Oil: I use this oil right before bed on my face and hands and it makes them SO soft. You can also use it on your hair, if it’s feeling dry! Oh and best part is, it also smells amazing.  ($13)

Andalou Naturals Cream Color: I like to use this as my daily tinted sunscreen and morning moisturizer. I tried a few related products before deciding on this one because it doesn’t make me look oily and smells great. ($20)

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Hand Soap: With a $4 price tag, TONS of scent options, and a stellar reputation, this was a no brainer for a clean hand soap. ($4)

John Masters Organics Lip Calm: I’ve been on the hunt for a clean chapstick and this one was the clear choice once I finally found it. I loved the raspberry option, but they have a bunch of other scents too. ($8)

BOOK REVIEW

NEW FROM WITH CHERYL

MY GOALS

March in Review

1. Complete my daily self-care challenge.

DONE! I can’t wait to tell you all about what I learned from this monthly challenge next week. But, I’ll give you a hint: it was A LOT. If you want to see all of the different things I did, check out my featured story on Instagram.

2. Make and go to doctor’s appointments this month.

NOT DONE. UGH. This one makes me really mad because I did everything I could to accomplish this goal. I made all of my appointments, but when I got to the dentist, they told me I didn’t have insurance (even though I do), so they couldn’t see me. I rescheduled for April, but it still frustrates me.

 3. Complete my morning routine at least 28 days this month.

DONE! I learned a lot about my mornings in March too. I’m realizing that I need to start going with the flow a little more. Sometimes my body really needs a good stretch and other days my brain needs an extra long journaling session—and that’s OK as long as I pay attention and give myself what I’m craving! Stay tuned for an update on my own morning routine later this month.

APRIL GOALS

And, I’m ending this post breaking the rules one last time! I like to be super transparent with all of you, but this month, I’ll be keeping my goals to myself since they’re all related to some exciting plans I’ve been working on for With Cheryl.

If you’d like to help me with these goals though, I would so appreciate you filling out this quick 6 question survey!

  1. With Cheryl says:

I’m excited for you to try! It’s been something I’ve been researching quite a bit myself and Whole Foods prices and standards were definitely winners to me. Thanks so much for reading and your comment. Let us know if you find any favorites at your new Whole Foods!
